The Cool Kids
The Cool Kids
The Cool Kids are back like they left something.

After a hiatus that saw Chuck and Mikey each expand upon their individual musical and artistic pursuits, the creators are back in the studio together making the same barrier-breaking, revolutionary hip hop that cemented their status as legends in the first place.

Originally formed in Chicago in 2007, The Cool Kids took the internet by storm with a flurry of golden age hip hop-inspired tracks that had an undeniable freshness about them. That freshness caught the ears of everyone from Diplo to A-Trak, placing The Cool Kids at the helm of the most important independent hip hop movement since the advent of the internet itself, the duo cementing a style and cadence for hip hop in a digital world that has been endlessly mimicked since.

After years of “will-they-or-won’t-they,” The Cool Kids knew their forces were too powerful when combined to keep them separate in good conscience. Now back at work after a six-year hiatus, Chuck and Mikey are back to their old ways with ease. With a few tracks already close to done, eager fans can comfortably expect great things from The Cool Kids — their signature style, but more importantly, their insatiable ability to creatively push the envelope, is as intact as it was on day one. Equal parts inspired by the old school and living in a future of their own design, The Cool Kids remain arbiters of game-changing musical taste.

The Cool Kids are back in Chicago with a show at Thalia Hall on December 14 with Red Bull Sound Select and Fakeshore Drive, with numerous additional nationwide dates to follow soon. Their new album is releasing in 2017 and has a lot of features that we can’t even talk about yet. Stay tuned!
